Abstract

Eggplant [Solanum melongena (L.)] is a major vegetable crop grown in temperate (during warm season) and tropical regions. Eggplant contains the alkaloid solanine in roots and leaves, and there are medicinal uses for eggplant. Fruit are rich in Ca, Mg, P and contain fatty acids (Dhankhar and Singh, 1984)
