Abstract

Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench] is one of the important warm season vegetables grown in the tropical and sub tropical parts of the world. The main limiting factor in the cultivation of this crop is yellow vein mosaic virus (YVMV). The loss due to YVMV is in
the range of 50 to 95 per cent depending on the stage ofm the crop growth at which infection occurs (Sastry and Singh, 1974). The resistant varieties developed by various research organizations by interspecific hybridization have started showing the signs of
susceptibility. So it is imperative to find diverse sources of resistance to YVMV and transfer the same to the cultivated species.
